Pu Luong is located in the northwest of Vietnam in the Mai Chau Valley, one of the most beautiful regions of Vietnam and thus a compelling alternative to the mountain areas overrun by mass tourists. The Thai and Muong ethnic minorities live here in almost untouched nature. At the foot of the mountains, they have settled at the edge of the forest with their archaic-looking stilt houses and have created terraced fields for rice cultivation. Here there is still the wild life, which makes the uninitiated visitor travel back in time to the last century. No streams of tourists on worn-out routes, but authentic life in nature.
Drive from Hanoi to Pu Luong Resort, about 5 hours through rural areas, past rice fields, cemeteries and through endless villages. On the side of the road you can sometimes see small markets, the ethnic minority of the Muong, who sell their self forged spades, their colorful fabrics or squawking piglets for sale. It's worth a quick stop, if only to sample a tuber of the delicious sweet potato and have a cup of tea to go with it.
Pu Luong Retreat Resort is a special place with an authentic yet comfortable ambience. Settle into your bungalow, from which you have an otherworldly view of the valley and mountains. If you can tear yourself away from it, head down into the valley. Those who are satisfied with the view, stay by the pool....
