A wonderful contrast to the urban hustle and bustle is this trip to the countryside, as we enjoy what has become rare in Hanoi: fresh air and silence.
Around 8 am we pick you up at your hotel, leave the alleyway charm of old Hanoi and head north into the province: to Song Cong, about 60 kilometers away. From there we walk about two kilometers on small paths into the middle of the rice fields. The last 300
meters we walk on a narrow embankment to a country house.
Before we enjoy the peaceful landscape, we familiarize ourselves with the wildlife on the farm. In the simple kitchen the food is already prepared: no appetizing folklore gastronomy, but rural specialties - rock solid and with attention to detail.
Afterwards, we will drive by moped or car on low-traffic agricultural roads, past farmsteads that seem to have grown together with the landscape, into the paradisiacally beautiful tea fields. We will learn about the secret of Thai Nguyen green tea and watch
the farmers harvesting the tea.
On one of the biggest cemeteries of this province we learn something about the cemetery culture of the Vietnamese.
In a "Bia Hoi", we will then have some local delicacies until we head back home, arriving back in Hanoi around 6pm.
